Cardigans

Brrr, it’s cold out there today. It’s a tricky time of year clothes wise, freezing outside/ boiling inside, which calls for our old friend The Cardigan. But cardigans.. they don’t exactly conjure up the coolest image do they? They have an (unfair) reputation for being dowdy and worn by the type who like to keep a snotty tissue up their sleeve but they are just too damn useful to dismiss entirely. They’re one of our wardrobe staples; a perfect warm layer, easy to slip on and off (without messing up your hair) and a godsend when nursing in public. So we decided to show you how to make them look cool. Practi-cool.

So how do you achieve that nonchalant just thrown on look without looking like you’ve forgotten to take your dressing gown off?

There are just a few simple rules you need to follow…

If you’re going oversized keep the trousers slim
Beware of chunky pockets on side of hips as they can add bulk
Keep rest of your outfit simple/neutral

And play with textures – chunky knits look great with sleek leather and tactile velvet.
