boilersuit blog

We LOVE a one-piece: practical, versatile and comfortable.  Perfect for when we’re rushing to get dressed (when are we not?) and they show no signs of going away.  Every Spring Summer Press day we’ve attended has showcased at least one so we know they’re worth investing in.  The boilersuit is probably the most man-repeller style of one-piece that exists, they actually resemble a manual work uniform: buttons, zips, pockets, an androgynous fit and utilitarian feel –  but I would argue, this is what makes them so cool.  They subvert the traditional idea of femininity and fashion.  A boilersuit is the ultimate ‘practi-cool’ item of clothing which is why we adore them so much.

There’s a huge array of choice out there, black and minimal, classic denim, khaki, corduroy, bright pink – something for every occasion and every sartorial taste.

A boilersuit will work in every season too; they look cool layered over a striped poloneck now and with sandals and basket bag when the sun arrives.  They even work if you are pregnant or breast feeding !

If we still haven’t convinced you, read on to find out how we style ours…

Worn loose with chunky trainers it is perfect for soft play (no builders bum!) or a casual weekend.  Try a fun colour.

Worn with heeled boots and a smart cross-body bag, a boilersuit becomes more office-appropriate and less UPS delivery driver.  Stick to neutrals and a more form-fitting shape.

A belt, blazer, jewellery  & heels instantly create a chic and grown up look.  Try a more lux fabric, such as satin for a real evening look.
