Recently Gem and I went on a weekend away mostly consisting of seaside walks, yoga and saunas (I know, how wholesome !).  We will do a whole post on packing for a short break but I wanted to talk about the item I wore the most: the humble trackie bottoms.  I must admit I purchased these on a whim the day before we left as I thought they’d be perfect to travel in but I ended up wearing them every day and many days since we returned.

They’re just so practical:  they dry super quickly (perfect for mishaps involving little ones and spillages) they are so quick (pull them on, add a knitwear and you’re good to go)  they go with all my coats (long wool overcoat now, denim jacket when sun appears, with blazer for work, with a mac when it rains etc..) they don’t crease (shove them in your suit case) and they look good with trainers and chunky sandals.  They’re even a good option if you are in the early stages of pregnancy or post pregnancy – a stretchy elastic waistband, perfect for your changing shape.

To be honest I don’t look as stylish as the woman in the picture above, I’ve been wearing mine at the weekend and for the school run when I want to be comfy but slightly more pulled together than I actually feel.  Mostly chucking them on with a cashmere jumper and cream Vans.  But I am enjoying wearing something this easy and I know they’ll be perfect for my 11 hour plane trip to Mexico in a few weeks.  I am even thinking of buying the matching jacket…
